Established in 1987, it derives its name from the ancient Caihe Bridge. Covering an area of 5.5 square kilometers, the subdistrict governs 16 communities and has been honored with titles such as "National Demonstration Subdistrict for Harmonious Community Building" and "Provincial Demonstration Subdistrict for Urban Community Party Construction." Caihe Subdistrict is renowned as a "prestigious street" for Party building, with over 4,300 registered Party members, 182 primary-level Party organizations, and 110同心圆 (united) units. It is also a "major street" for commerce, home to the Sijiqing Fashion Block, which features 22 specialized markets. As a "blessed street" for livelihoods, it boasts high-quality health resources like Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital and 12 prestigious schools bearing the "Cai" prefix. Moreover, it is an emerging "future street." As the only urban renewal pilot project among the first 24 pilot projects in Zhejiang Province, the Caihe Lotus Pond Future Community actively explores the "integrated renewal" model for old urban areas, striving to become a provincial exemplar.
