      Lying in the west of Hangzhou City, West Lake is one of the key places of interests in mainland China and one of the top ten scenic spots in China. It is one of scenery fresh water lakes in mainland China, and is jointly called “Three Famous Lakes” together with Nanjing Xuanwu Lake and Jiaxing South Lake.  
      Surrounded by hills from three sides, West Lake occupies a land area of 6.39 square km, 2.8km from east to west, 3.2km from south to north, and is 15km surrounding the lake for one circle. The Lake is separated by Lonely Hill, Bai’s Causeway, and Yang’s Causeway, into Exterior West Lake, West Inner Lake, North Inner Lake, Minor South Lake, respectively as per the area; Su’s Causeway and Bai’s Causeway lies over the lake surface, and three isles of Minor Yingzhou, Lake Center Pavilion, and Ruan’s Mound form a triangle in the Exterior West Lake; and the Lefeng Pagoda on the Sunset Hill and the Baoshu Pagoda on the Gemstone Hill stand decorating each other in the lake. Thus forming a structure of “one hill, two pagodas, three isles, three causeways, and five lakes”. On June 24th, 2011, West Lake was listed as a world cultural relics.
